仮名文字は日本人が漢字をもとに独自に発展させた、国風文化の結晶です。平安時代、恋文や親しい人たちとの遣り取りのなかで洗練され、細やかな感情をそのまま書き表す表現力を持つに至りました。

BIOGRAPHY

Keisen is a Japanese calligrapher whose work is rooted in classical kana script and the poetic tradition of waka. Drawing from these foundations, she explores the aesthetic and spiritual dimensions of language, seeking to visualize the subtle emotions and inner resonance embedded within words.

Her practice goes beyond calligraphy as a formal art, aiming to create contemplative spaces where viewers can encounter stillness, memory, and poetic sensibility. By integrating elements of painting with calligraphic expression, she develops a distinctive visual language that bridges tradition and contemporary art.

Grounded in her academic background in education and social studies, Keisen’s work reflects a long-standing inquiry into human connection and cultural continuity. Through her art, she aspires to connect people across time and space, conveying the enduring spirit of Japanese culture.

RESEARCH / ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Keisen previously served in higher education, conducting research in the fields of educational studies, career development, and community welfare. Her academic work includes studies on vocational school management, secretarial education, and community-based initiatives such as children’s cafeterias (“Kodomo Shokudo”).

The perspective cultivated through her research—fostering human development and social connection—continues to inform her artistic practice.
